23 Pieces
This film was funded by the Wellcome Trust to encourage the public to engage in thinking about science.
I worked with a really dedicated group of young people and there were times we all wondered who it was possible to write an emotional story about DNA. It seemed as though DNA's relentless replication was like some kind of endless, manic photocopier. But in the end we found our plot. The film became about identity, the impossiblity of escaping your parents and the need to find out who you are.
I worked for the Wellcome trust again on 'Boy Child'.
